About the Role
Prime Video is changing the way millions of customers interact with video content. We're looking for a talented Video Codec Engineer to join our team in developing and optimizing video compression technologies for Prime Video's streaming infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities As a Codec Engineer at Prime Video, you'll work on encoder/decoder solutions that impact billions of streaming hours annually. You'll collaborate with team members to optimize codec performance and implement effective video delivery solutions across various platforms.
A day in the life • Implement and optimize video compression algorithms • Assist in benchmarking codec performance across different platforms • Collaborate with team members on video quality assessment metrics and encoding algorithms • Contribute to the integration of video processing workloads into the streaming infrastructure • Help implement production-ready solutions • Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code About the Team: Our mission is to build and operate innovative video streaming technology that provides the best customer-centric streaming experience for VOD and Live globally.

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Job Details
Experience: programming with at least one software programming language - Solid understanding of video coding standards (H.264, HEVC, AV1) - Solid understanding of video coding standards (H.264, HEVC, AV1) - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience: with video encoding optimization and profiling tools • Knowledge of video quality assessment and metrics • Familiarity with open-source video encoders and FFmpeg
Experience: working on video processing systems
