Collection Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a performance-driven Collection Manager to lead and oversee the Personal Loan Collections function. The role involves managing end-to-end collections strategy, driving recovery performance, reducing delinquency, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a data-driven approach, and hands-on experience in unsecured loan collections.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor Team Leads and collection executives to drive optimal performance.
• Develop and implement effective collection strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual recovery targets.
• Monitor delinquent portfolios (DPD buckets) and take proactive steps to control NPAs.
• Analyze collection data and MIS reports to identify trends, gaps, and improvement areas.
• Ensure timely and efficient follow-ups on overdue accounts and adherence to collection processes.
• Handle critical and escalated cases, including high-value delinquent accounts and settlements.
• Collaborate with Credit, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams for recovery planning and account resolution.
• Ensure strict adherence to regulatory guidelines (RBI norms) and fair collection practices.
• Drive process improvements, automation, and productivity enhancements within the collections function.
• Conduct regular team reviews, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
• Key Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
• Target-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• In-depth understanding of personal loan collections lifecycle and recovery mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with MIS reporting, MS Excel, and collection tools/CRMs.
• Knowledge of legal recovery processes and compliance standards is a plus.
